The National Trust for Jersey own Le Coleron, where a gun battery, powder magazine and guardhouse were formerly sited.
The footpath to Le Coleron is on private land and this week the trust announced they had successfully negotiated with the landowner for the reopening of the path.
The landowner has had work carried out to stablise part of the pathway, which had become undermined.
Trust president Colin Smith said although it had taken considerable time to reopen the footpath they hoped that it clearly demonstrated the trust’s commitment to safeguarding access to its sites as well as to preserving historic rights of way.
