Forecasters said that there was nothing unusual about the weather for this time of the year and warned that there was more to come.

Winds gusted up to 63 mph on Saturday and Sunday and almost 2 cm of rain fell, causing some localised flooding.

Sunday afternoon also saw a brief hailstorm and thunder as a cold front moved over the Island.

Condor cancelled ferries yesterday and this morning was still reporting ‘extreme’ weather conditions in the English Channel, with sailings cancelled today as well.
