The unacceptable face of product endorsement?

A photograph issued with a Jersey Telecom press release last week shows Assistant Economic Development Minister Alan Maclean’s face on the screen of a Blackberry multi-purpose phone.

Beside his face, in another screen, is that of Jersey Telecom (JT) sales and marketing director Tim Ringsdore.

The photograph accompanied a press release announcing that Deputy Maclean’s estate agency business, Mulberry, had agreed to use the new JT Blackberry phones.

But Deputy Maclean has cried foul.

He says the photograph was doctored by JT without his knowledge and gives a misleading impression about the part he played in the deal.
