Personal trainer Meredith (28) has teamed up with the president of the Jersey Netball Association, Maureen Cox, and the pair are now jointly responsible for team affairs this season.

Familiar He has no previous experience of working with a netball team, but his wife Jenna plays for St Clement and he is more than familiar with the game.

Originally from Kent, Meredith has been in the Island for five years.

He has added an intense fitness regime to the players’ netball coaching sessions and it appears as though it is already paying dividends.

Jersey thumped Penryn 53-12 in Bournemouth in their latest South-West league clash to make it three wins on the bounce so far.

Meredith, who lives in St Ouen, says he wants to achieve ‘total domination’ in the league and was delighted with the result.

He said: ‘It was pleasing to see what results a complete warm up and fitness drills can achieve.’ A frustrated Penryn lost their rag in the last quarter and became aggressive, but Jersey kept their discipline and continued to outplay the opposition.

‘It was great to see us keep our discipline when the opposition lost theirs,’ said the new fitness coach.

The Island team next play the Navy on 4 November at Langford Sports Hall at Jersey College for Girls.
