Jersey Harbours, who regulate maritime concessions around the Island, closed the centre for 26 hours after last Wednesday’s accident as a standard procedure.
It has now reopened but conditions set by Harbours, which are part of the centre’s licence to operate, have been varied at least until their investigation into the accident has been completed.
This week the centre has been able to loan jet skis only to people aged 16 or over and every hirer must possess a valid driving licence or appropriate maritime qualification, such as the Royal Yachting Association’s personal water craft certificate.
But it is likely that these conditions will be lifted after a meeting between Harbours and the centre, which has agreed to update its operating rules.
