The shop on Queen Street and the outlet in de Gruchy’s department store will be among the last of the UK chain converted to the Waterstone’s label, partly because the two shops’ computer systems – already different – will have to be switched to Waterstone’s software.
The changeover could also see a widening of the range at the two shops.
A Waterstone’s spokesman said: ‘The two Jersey stores are towards the end of our conversion schedule.
It’s the first time Waterstone’s will have traded in the Channel Islands so both shops in Jersey will have to be converted.
We are reviewing the range we offer on a store-by-store basis.
The range in Jersey will probably be changed – it depends on local conditions and customer preferences.
It also depends on what our team who go into the stores come up with.
But they will be converted to Waterstone’s signage inside and out.
Waterstone’s has already announced the launch of a new website Waterstones.
om in the autumn and it intends to follow this with a site that will extend its bookselling operations online.
