Amal-Grow supplies outdoor-grown vegetables to many of the Island’s supermarkets and other outlets.
Since its foundation in 1976, it has used sheds at Greenacres, the farming complex opposite the new JFTU showrooms at Sion.
Its move to new premises has been necessitated by the end of its lease at Greenacres, and failure of negotiations with the owner, Richard Bisson, to buy the site.
Over the past year, two very large potato cold stores, with a joint capacity of over 2,000 tons, have been built, together with packaging and grading facilities, a new workshop and sheds for other farming purposes, and also 12 units of accommodation for workers.
The company has recently vacated its premises at Greenacres, except for using some polytunnels there until the end of the year.
It will retain its present premises at Beau Champ Farm, Sion, meaning that there will continue to be two operating locations for the company.
