THE future of St Helier is under discussion at the Town Hall today.
London-based consultants EDAW are in the Island to meet politicians, business representatives, States officers and parishioners to discuss the development and regeneration of St Helier.
The company have compiled a report which says an absence of Jersey culture and well-known tourist events combined with disparate public spaces, derelict sites, insensitive development and traffic congestion have left town muddled and unmemorable.
They are holding a workshop at the Town Hall today to discuss their issues report, which has been prepared for the Urban Task Force.
It is the first part of the company’s work, which will include putting together a parking strategy for town, as well as a detailed master plan with recommendations for the future development of St Helier, at a cost to the States of £200,000.
