Frankie Young (69) believes that too many mature people – from the age of 40 upwards – are missing out on functions and parties because they don’t feel comfortable attending them on their own.
People with invitations will be able to write to Mrs Young, explaining what sort of function it is, before being provided with a match for the occasion.
Home alone Mrs Young insists that there is nothing improper about her idea.
‘All I’m doing is giving some company to people who would otherwise find it hard to get,’ she said.
‘This is for people who are lonely at home.
There may be plenty of events going on in Jersey, but equally there are many men and women who don’t or can’t take part in them because they have no one to take out.
So they stay home alone and are miserable.
