The former director of the Jersey Arts Centre and former Jersey Evening Post journalist will be responsible for developing the Island’s Cultural Strategy and for planning and managing the department’s £1.2 million budget for culture.
In accepting the Grade 11 post with a top salary of £45,000, Mr Mcloughlin is taking a cut in salary.
He said it was an offer he could not refuse and that he was perfectly willing to accept a reduced salary because of his long interest and commitment to culture in Jersey.
