After more than four hours of deliberation, the jury reached unanimous verdicts against each of the men for their parts in a conspiracy to import £515,000 worth of cannabis.

The maximum sentence for the offence is 14 years.

All four men were remanded in custody until sentencing on 27 January before the Superior Number.

The jury decided that pilot Richard Styles (35), from Hertfordshire, and Joseph Carney (28) and Joseph Day (35), both of Liverpool, threw the drugs – the biggest haul ever seized in Jersey – from a light aircraft at 11 pm on 2 October 2003.

A fourth man, Cliff de Sousa, of Jersey, was a local link in the chain, whose job was to help look for the drugs once they were dropped in the wrong place.
