The Bailiff, Sir Philip Bailhache, said that ‘a door is opening’ for Jersey to develop its own role in the world.

Sir Philip was speaking at a full sitting of the Royal Court to administer oaths of office to the 35 Senators and Deputies elected in October and November.

The 29 Deputies and six Senators sworn in today included 14 new Members.

It will take the House back up to its full complement of 53 for the first time since Senator Ted Vibert resigned in the summer.
