A new copy of the £150,000 light portrait will be unveiled tonight in Westminster Hall during a reception hosted jointly by the Bailiff, Sir Philip Bailhache, and John Whittingdale MP, vice-chairman of the Commons Channel Islands group and chairman of the Commons Select Committee for Culture Media and Sport.

Senator Walker is travelling to London for the event.

He said he was pleased that the national publicity surrounding the event was the best Jersey had received in many years.

‘The event and the publicity it is receiving is a tremendous boost for Jersey’s reputation and standing in the UK.

It really exposes the best about Jersey to a wide range of important people and the public generally.

This is a credit to everyone involved in the holograph and to everyone arranging the presentation this evening.’ This is the first time the Island has had the opportunity to host an event inside the Palace of Westminster.

More than 200 invited guests are expected to attend tonight’s unveiling including The Lord Chancellor, Lord Falconer, senior MPs, members of the House of Lords, judges in the Court of Appeal and members of some of the principal cultural organisations in the UK.
