Around 20 veterans joined the Bailiff, Sir Philip Bailhache and Gerald Bisson, the chairman of the Royal British Legion in Jersey, and their wives, in placing crosses at the foot of the Cenotaph.

The dignitaries presented poppies to some of the 100 or more cadets from the Air Training Corps, Victoria College and the Jersey Sea Cadets, who stood as the Dean led prayers for those who have died in combat.

Organisers hope that this year’s poppy sales and fundraising will top the £100,000 figure raised during last year’s campaign.
