Bowls:Triples take Atlantic Rim test in their stride

JERSEY'S triples bowls team is on a roll at the Atlantic Rim World Games.

Chrissie Grimes, Gean O'Neil and Gina Le Long were this afternoon due to play in the quarter finals of the prestigious tournament in Bangor, Northern Ireland after winning six of their seven group matches.

But the pairs team of Sue Dingle and Gaynor Thomas has not fared as well as they came off the worst in some tight matches.

However, this morning they beat the Netherlands 15-14 on the last end to claim ninth place.

Said team manager Lorraine Murphy: 'The triples have been fantastic - they've played really well together.

The only team to beat them was Wales and they have a really strong side.

'Sue and Gaynor have played well too but things didn't always go their way.' Group matches: Triples - Jsy bt Netherlands 27-7; bt USA 19-13; bt Israel 27-16; lost to Wales 27-11; bt Ireland 21-16; bt S Africa 18-15; bt Canary Islands 17-14.

Pairs - Jsy lost to England 16-14; lost to Israel 20-9; bt USA 17-15; bt Wales 23-21; bt Portugal 21-12; lost to S Africa 18-15; lost to Spain 15-12.
