Dave Gorman, chairman of selectors, and his counterparts will be hopeful that the form of many of their players continues this weekend with the majority of the 14 involved in KPMG Channel Islands Championship matches tomorrow together with the under-21 inter-insular on Sunday.
Gorman said: ‘Our get-togethers have gone very well this season and we are looking forward to next Saturday’s game against Guernsey.
‘It’s a talented squad with a good mixture of youth and experience and it contains two pairs of brothers, twins Peter and Jonny Gough and Tom and Bobby Minty.
‘The Jersey Cricket Board selectors are continuing to lower the average age of the team, something which started a couple of years ago.’ Gorman said that there are several players who have not been included this time who are well in the frame for the main inter-insular in the next few years.
He added: ‘Two players have been very unlucky not to have made it this year; Ian Crocker has scored the most runs this season but he picked up a hamstring injury a couple of weeks ago therefore he missed last weekend’s B-team game against Guernsey.
‘Had he played and performed well he could well have been playing next weekend.
Ben Silva is another to miss out.
Ben has suffered injury and illness and had he not missed so many games he could well have been included too.’ The 14 in contention are: Matt Hague (captain), Peter Gough, Jonny Gough, Tom Minty, Bobby Minty, Simon Short (wicket-keeper), Paul Horton, Andy Dewhurst, Tony Carlyon, Ryan Driver, Ward Jenner, Meeku Patidar, Peter Blackburn and Mark Saralis.
