Community nurses Hugh Baldwin and Peter Jolley will be undertaking the Cycle Peru in November and they are now busy raising funds for their venture.

Island cricketer Mark Saralis has rounded up the cricketing fraternity and the fund-raising match will be played at Grainville on Friday, starting at 6 pm.

Terry Atkinson, who is helping the two riders to raise funds, said: ‘It promises to be a lot of fun and we’re hoping a lot of hungry spectators will attend the match as we are putting on plenty of food including a bean crock, hot dogs and a Thai curry.

‘It should be a very good evening and I hope the public support us so we can help the two riders achieve their sponsorship targets of £2,500 each.’ Friday’s match features teams representing Jersey and The Rest of the World.

Taking part, and contributing £20 apiece, are, Jersey: Nigel Crocker (captain), Tom Minty, Tony Carlyon, Ian Crocker, Andy Brown, Andy Dewhurst, Paul Horton, Mark Whitsey, Ben Silva, Richard Anthony and Ward Jenner.

Rest of the World: Peter Scott (captain), Dave Morfee, Gary Kynman, Carl Moyse, Jamie Mackintosh, Rohan Mohanty, Matt Hague, Meeku Patidar, Jules Nolli, Richard Parker and Ryan Duplessis.
