Their new leader will replace the interim chairman, Trinity Rector the Rev Tony Keogh, who announced last Thursday that he would be stepping down and ruled himself out of the forthcoming election.
Acting chairman Deputy Geoff Southern confirmed this morning that he would be a candidate for the office, but it is not known whether anyone else will stand.
Around 20 JDA council members will take part in the vote, which is being held in the Members Room at the States Chamber at 7 pm this evening.
The duties of the chairman include running JDA meetings and leading the party into the election.
