About 500 competitors from across north-west Europe in the S14 group of special and paralympian gymnastics events will be battling it out for places in the main Paralympic games scheduled to take place in London the following week.
It will also mean that the five Olympic rings and the torch will come to the Island in 2012.
And representatives from the International Olympic Committee’s technical equipment committee are expected to come to the Island early next year to make sure facilities are of the required standard.
Jersey is a centre of excellence for special gymnastics and, as such, is extremely well placed to host the final qualifiers.
