In a match where most of the bowlers struggled to control a swinging ball on FB2, Crowell returned to bowl a very tight final over to finish with figures of 2 for 11 off four overs.

There were two run outs off the last three balls and Barclays’ Robin Pitcher was particularly unlucky to finish on the losing side, top-scoring with 52 (retired) after taking 1 for 26 from four overs.

Skipper Simon Varley top-scored for NatWest with 29 out of their total of 117 for 7.

The other two teams who were at the top of the table with NatWest prior to last night’s games also won.

Walkovers and Hautlians beat Centurions B and Sloggers respectively.

Hautlians were comfortable winners at Les Quennevais.

Ken Maclean took 3 for 26 as Sloggers were restricted to 71 for 8 from 12 overs.

James Wigley (28 not out) and Martin Higgins (21 not out) saw them home for the loss of just one wicket.

Paul Glass hit 41 as Centurions B reached 102 for 6 from their 14 overs on FB1.

Kevin English carried his bat for an unbeaten 46 as Walkovers reached the target with 12 balls to spare.

Walkovers are in action again tonight when they play Jersey Academicals of Division II in the JEP KO Cup semi-final on FB2.

The other semi-final on FB1 pits holders Sporting Club Francais against St Ouen in an all Division I clash.

Jersey’s Under-15 cricketers notched a five-wicket victory over Guernsey at the College Field on Sunday.

The Sarnians batted first and were reduced to 109-7 before recovering to 204-9 at the end of their 47 overs with Mark Chipperfield claiming 3 for 43 and Peter Whitsey 2 for 38.

Jersey started confidently with Matthew Hanley (55) and Whitsey (31) putting on 100 for the first wicket.

Then Tom Gibbs weighed in with 73 to guide his side to their target.

Jersey’s Under-12 side came up against an extremely strong Sarnian side when they travelled to Guernsey on Sunday.

Despite the hot conditions Jersey put in a brave effort and there were some good individual performances although they were well beaten on the day.

Jersey batted first but found it hard to score quickly on the large playing area.

Both Nick Wildman and Danny Kearns batted sensibly but wickets fell regularly and they were all out for 102.

In the reply Peatfield and Clarke were positive and hit the ball hard and the total was reached in the 16th over.

Clarke’s 50 came off only 36 balls but both batsmen hit shots that would not have looked out of place several age groups higher.
