The alleged assault took place near Almeiro’s Café, formerly known as Brockie’s Café, between 8 pm on Saturday and 1.30 am yesterday.
The States police are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area to come forward.
Officers cordoned off the area and recovered items belonging to the victim.
Detectives from CID also want to speak to the person who posted a set of keys and a white mobile phone, thought to belong to the victim, through the letterbox at the police western substation at St Aubin on Saturday night.
Officers want to stress that this person is not in any trouble and could greatly assist the police in their inquiries.
