The company’s directors, Richard Brocken and Peter French, claim that politicians were given ‘inaccurate’ information in answers given by committee president Senator Stuart Syvret to questions asked in the States in March.

This is denied by the Senator, who described the proposals put forward by the company as ‘naive’.

Snib Ltd has been granted outline planning permission to construct a 60,000 sq ft private hospital on the Stafford Hotel site beside the General Hospital.

But Health chief executive Mike Pollard claims that the company’s proposals would require the General Hospital to make available to the private hospital, either free of charge or at some subsidised rate, publicly funded services such as intensive care facilities.

However, the company directors are adamant that no subsidy of any description – either capital or operational – is being sought by them.

They say that their proposals would be no drain on the public purse and would, in fact, have a positive financial impact.
