The 14-year-old came first in the Junior Compound event in Meridan in the Midlands two weeks ago.
And shooting for Britain in the Europa Cup in the Czech Republic at the weekend – a competition that involved archers from 25 countries – she came second in the individual female event for her age group.
From a distance of 70 metres with 12 dozen arrows she scored 1214 – meaning she only requires a score of 600 from six dozen arrows firing from the same distance to secure a place at the 2006 World Championships.
But her score fell just short of the 1240 qualifying measure for the European Championships to be staged in Denmark in August.
Tony O’Sullivan, Lucy’s father, says living in the Island has hampered her chances of qualifying because the financial costs of commuting from Jersey to the UK have limited her appearances in competition.
‘It’s easy to compete from the UK because you can just drive anywhere,’ he said.
‘But Lucy’s been restricted in her competition and has only had two attempts at qualifying.
‘But she’s getting PBs every time she shoots and she’s in the Great Britain team and well on course for the World Championships next year.
‘So we’re very positive because that’s the big one and she is more than half-way there.
I have to thank Condor Ferries for sponsoring Lucy and Education, Sport and Culture for their support.’
