That is the promise of Senator Philip Ozouf, one of the architects of the Island’s competition law, who has promised to resolve the matter for the good of the economy and in the interests of consumers.
He believes there is a chance that the Jersey Competitions Regulatory Authority may yet rule that the takeover of Safeway/Morrisons by CI Traders was illegal.
According to the Senator, although the deal was done just hours before the new law came in, it may not have been executed until after the deadline.
And if a bid to the JCRA fails, Senator Ozouf said the government already has three potential sites where another supermarket could go.
