Guernsey-registered Renewable Energy Generation Ltd (REG) is currently raising funds for investment in primarily European projects with the intention of floating on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange.

Joining Mr Liston on the board is Nigel Le Quesne, managing director of the Jersey Trust Company Group; George Cardona, founding chief executive of Cardona Lloyd & Company and a past general manager of HSBC Bank; Tod Kersten, a partner of Enterprise Investors in Warsaw, Poland; John Donelan, a senior member of Probyn & Company, a leading investor in renewable power projects; and Andrew Whalley, head of utility investment at Premier Asset Management plc.

REG will be managed by Eastgate Power, a wholly owned subsidiary of Premier Asset Management.

Mr Liston (53) Mr Liston said that his decision to become a non-executive chairman of the new company was based on both personal and professional development.

‘Renewable energy is such a social issue in the world today, with climate change and the impact of energy,’ he said.

‘As is widely known, the JEC has been looking into renewable energy sources, including a wind farm between Jersey and France, so in terms of the JEC getting experience of renewable energy, this is an important opportunity for us.

‘I’m an environmentalist by inclination and that’s one of the reasons why we have replaced all of the fossil fuels in the electricity supply.

Some might argue against the ethics of a supply that is 80% nuclear and 20% hydro, but it is imperative to reduce the use of fossil fuels, and nuclear power plays a part in that.
