The large community project has been conceived by Jersey piano virtuoso Christopher George and the London-based Emfeb Symphony Orchestra, with which he is a soloist.

Mr George has also enlisted the support of singing teacher Imogen Nicholls and the Jersey Instrumental Music Service.

Much of Emfeb’s work involves education and outreach projects, and the name is an abbreviation of the company’s ethos, ‘every music for everybody’.

The Emfeb Lime Ensemble made their Island debut with two concerts at St James in October, the second of which included the première of ‘Brine’, a piano work dedicated to Jersey by Emfeb composer Owen Bourne.

This time Mr Bourne will compose a choral work entitled ‘East Meets West’, and he is inviting all the Island’s primary schools to help to write the words.

Four choirs of Jersey children will then perform the work at locations in the east and west of the Island in July, when the Em-feb Symphonic Wind Ensemble comes to Jersey for a series of three concerts.
