Owing to an increase in the reported number of cases of mumps in the UK and now Jersey, everyone born between 1982 and 1990 has been contacted by his or her GP.
Students either planning to attend or who are already at universities are thought to be most at risk.
There have already been six confirmed cases of the disease this year, and it is feared that this could be the start of the after-effects of the MMR scare of a few years ago.
