Members of a number of unions intend to show their opposition to States Members as they arrive to debate laws that the unions claim will diminish their rights.

The unions fear that if the new laws are adopted they could find themselves being prosecuted for what is currently legitimate action.

They fear the right to strike could be removed by the proposed legislation, as would secondary picketing.

The States are to debate the new Employment Relations Law on Tuesday 15 March and politicians are being urged by Transport and General Workers Union district official Nick Corbel to ‘enter through the front door that day rather than skulk in through the back door’.
