Both islands used the match as a preparation for forthcoming Muratti fixtures, Alderney face Guernsey in the Muratti Vase semi-final on Saturday week while Jersey’s U21s host Guernsey for the Ambassadeur Bowl on Good Friday 25 March.
Jersey finished comprehensive victors, in front of a poor crowd of under 100, but credit Alderney, playing at the new Springfield for the first time, as they fought bravely after conceding three goals late in the first half.
‘We played some nice football and were very disciplined,’ said Jersey manager Dave Matthews.
‘It would have been easy to showboat after that but there are places to play for and the team knocked the ball round well.’ Scott Walsh shot Jersey ahead from an angle after Alderney goalkeeper Paul Williams fumbled Bradley Russell’s shot.
Jordan Docherty made it 2-0 with a header – Paul Aitken keeping the ball in play well by nodding it across goal.
Jack Crawford struck home a dipping shot from 25 yards, Williams misjudging the flight, before Russell added the fourth after a parry by Williams.
Alderney were denied a late consolation when Jersey substitute goalkeeper Fraser Siddall produced a good save low down.
