The liner paid a visit to Guernsey last year and has provisionally booked to come to Jersey on 13 and 14 July this year.
Master of The World Capt Dag Saevik came to Jersey last year as the guest of Jersey Harbours and Jersey Tourism while the liner was in Guernsey.
Partly as a result of that visit the 43,500 tonne vessel will anchor off St Helier this summer.
Deputy Harbourmaster Capt Peter Moore said the 200 metre ship would be moored at Demie des Pas.
He said those who owned apartments on board voted for the places they wanted to visit each year, and this time Jersey was on the list.
He went on to say: ‘The main reason I think is there is somebody who lives on board who might have connections with the Island.’ He said anyone on board who wanted to see the Island would have to take a two mile launch from where the liner would be moored.
He said: ‘We do get people doing excursions although in this area they are not so focused on them as they would be in the Mediterranean, although residents might want to disembark and wander around town.’ He added that the liner would be visible to Islanders from South Hill and Grève d’Azette, but it was unlikely that people would be allowed on board owing to security measures.
