Deryck Egré and the trust are involved in a legal battle for ownership of Les C?tils Farm on Mont à l’Abbé, which was bequeathed to the trust by its owner, Donald Le Brun, Mr Egré’s uncle and godfather.

Mr Egré claims that he moved into the dilapidated farmhouse in 1984 after Mr Le Brun had told him that if he restored it, it was his.

He and his wife sold their own home and set about completely renovating the farm and Mr Egré agreed a 21-year lease with his uncle, paying a nominal rent.

But the men subsequently fell out and in 1988 Mr Le Brun told his nephew that he had cut him out of his will although Mr Egré continued to live in the property.
