Clarence House confirmed that the pair will finally wed more than 30 years after they first met – ending long speculation about their future.
No date has been released at this stage, but reports this morning suggested that it would be Friday 8 April.
The move will end years of speculation on their relationship, which has spanned decades – the couple first met at a Windsor polo match in 1970.
Mrs Parker Bowles’s current position meant that her status was dogged with problems, including her seating at social functions away from the heir to the throne.
Last June she was mentioned in the Prince’s accounts – moving into a new realm of acceptance.
This week there was further controversy over the cost of her lifestyle and how it was funded by the Prince.
A key question still to be resolved will be whether Mrs Parker Bowles will be addressed as the Princess of Wales, and when Charles becomes King, as Queen Camilla.
Parliamentary officials were scouring records to see whether the Commons and the Lords would need to approve the marriage.
