Paul Young, Dave Lund and Ben Murray travel to the Camborne Rugby Club in Cornwall to battle for the Southern Division titles in the Western Counties Championships.

Welterweight Young will be defending his South West Divisional crown and will be hoping go on to take the Western title after losing in the final last year.

Lund, at super heavyweight, has also been here before.

He reached the ABA quarter finals two years ago after winning the Western Counties.

Young Leonis lightweight Murray, meanwhile, will be testing the ABA waters for the first time.

But each boxer will only be allowed to fight twice on Saturday.

If they win through they will have to wait three days before they climb into the ring again.

Leonis coach Dave Thompson reckons all three have the ability to do well.

‘Paul and Dave know what to expect and they’re in great shape so they should be fine.

Ben’s also worked hard and he’s got all the skills.

They’ve all been in strict training since December and they were working hard over Christmas and New Year.’ If they are successful on this trip they will go to the Western Counties finals early in February in Somerset with the next step the national quarter finals against the Combined Services champions in Bristol in the middle of the month.

Leonis coaches Thompson and Eddie Stuart will travel with the boxers.
