In the letter, John Le Fondré jnr says that many members of the public perceive consultation as a means of ignoring the views of those who are affected by planning decisions.

Mr Le Fondré’s letter relates to developments in St Lawrence and St Peter, including the Dandara development near Sandybook.

Although the Le Fondré family has land close by, he denies ‘nimbyism’ and says he is raising concerns expressed by many people he has spoken to.

He says that when the Island Plan was originally taken around the parish halls, residents expressed concerns over 97 units being built on the Sandybrook site and raised issues such as increased risks of flooding, traffic congestion and possible social problems.

‘However, when the proposals were released, residents were aghast that the plans were for 150 units, subsequently reduced to 140,’ said Mr Le Fondré.

‘In their eyes, how does this remotely equate to being listened to?’
