Anthony Huchet (42), of Bellozanne Road, admitted carrying out a campaign of lewd and suggestive telephone calls against the woman, Trish Irving, over a period of two years.
And the case could lead to a change in the law over harassment-related offences in the Island.
The Magistrate said he would contact the Attorney General over the shorter sentences for the offences in Jersey as opposed to those in the UK.
Huchet was told by the Magistrate, Ian Le Marquand, that if the Island had similar penalties for harassment offences as the UK, he would have been sent to the Royal Court.
But because Jersey law carries a maximum six-month penalty for these crimes, Mr Le Marquand said he was constrained by the law.
