Bruce Horwood and Mary Norman made the Queen’s cut-off mark of 144 ex 150, with hard-earned totals of 146.17 and 144.12 respectively, on a day when no one hit a maximum.
Great Britain denied Jersey’s eight in the Kolapore, the major team contest at Bisley.
Jersey, with Richard Benest top-scoring in a total of 1,169.127 were 27 shots behind the GB team, but well ahead of Kenya (1,145), Canada (1,144) and Guernsey (1,143).
Conditions were tough throughout the day, particularly for shooters involved in all three prestigious competitions shot.
Alex Langley was one such man, and although he was disappointed with missing the cut in the Queen’s , he leads Jersey’s challenge in the final of the St George’s this morning.
He qualified in the 35th place (although when his first round total is ‘dropped’ he should go to 16th) with a 147 and 16 V bulls (147.16).
Richard Benest (146.18) and Horwood (145.19) also go through.
Said Langley: ‘It was a really tough day, especially at 600 yards.
Conditions were tough and although I’d like to drown my sorrows with a few pints at not making the Queen’s final, it’ll be a case of early to bed for the the St George.’
