The New Street Dental team introduce themselves and explain why their approach means patients will leave the new practice with a smile
Can you introduce us to the New Street Dental team?
We’re a small but perfectly formed team who genuinely love what we do.
Our full-time dentist is Dr Stuart Reading (GDC 66585). Stuart qualified from Newcastle University back in 1991 and has spent the last three decades quietly becoming a very respected clinician. He is calm, funny and brilliant at putting people at ease.
His special interests are aesthetic and restorative dentistry, Invisalign and fixed orthodontics and implant restorations. (He is Nobel-Biocare-trained and has studied with top dentists such as Paul Tipton and Howard Stein.)
For anything involving oral surgery or dental implants, we bring in an experienced implant dentist from Indigo Dental. Chris Martin (GDC 152962) pops across especially for us, and only does implants and surgery at New Street Dental.
Keeping everyone’s smiles sparkling is our fabulous hygienist Päivi Kyyhkynen (GDC 281313). Päivi grew up in Lapland, trained in Finland and has called Jersey home since 2020.
She has one of the gentlest hands in the business and an infectious laugh
that instantly melts away any dental anxiety.
Holding the whole show together are our brilliant nurses and reception crew – Clare, Agi and Snezhana – who all manage to make even a busy Monday morning feel relaxed and welcoming.
What inspired you to launch New Street Dental?
We looked around and saw a lot of people putting off going to the dentist because of cost, fear or just because the whole experience felt a bit… clinical.
We wanted to build a place where going to the dentist could actually be something people looked forward to with affordable prices, zero judgment, brand-new everything and a team who genuinely care. A proper new start on New Street.
What services do you offer?
We offer pretty much everything you would want under one roof:
- Check-ups, hygiene, fillings, crowns, bridges, veneers.
- White fillings and aesthetic bonding.
- Root canal treatment.
- Orthodontics – Invisalign and fixed braces.
- Dental implants (placement by Chris, restoration by Stuart).
- Full smile makeovers.
- Children’s dentistry (we love seeing little ones and starting them off right).
- Emergency same-day appointments.
What does New Street Dental do particularly well?
We’re quickly becoming known for two things: looking after nervous patients – Stuart and Päivi are great with this – and affordable, quality care.
We pride ourselves on being affordable for all and ensuring our patients are always fully informed of their options and know how much their treatment will cost in advance.
What do you think New Street Dental does differently from other practices?
There are three big things: genuinely affordable private fees – we don’t believe great dentistry should be a luxury – as well as a brand-new, light, modern space that smells like a nice hotel, not a dental practice.
And, because we are new, we have appointments available either on the same day or very soon after.
What are New Street Dental’s commitments to its patients, and what is your ethos?
Our ethos in six words is “brilliant dentistry that everyone can afford”.
We keep up with the latest techniques, so you get the best we can offer.
We’re committed to providing same-day emergency appointments whenever possible and providing honest treatment plans with no scary surprises when it comes to price. We’ll always tell you the cheapest long-term solution first and everything is agreed upfront.
And all patients get a genuinely warm welcome every single time they walk through the door.
What impact do you hope to have on your patients?
We want people to leave here smiling – not just because their teeth look great, but because the whole experience was actually nice. Healthier mouths, more confidence, less fear – one relaxed patient at a time.
