The team at Capital International, the business which acquired Martello Asset Management last year, reflects on its recent Jersey launch event

LAST year, the Jersey-based investment business Martello Asset Management was acquired by Capital International Group, an Isle-of-Man-headquartered financial services company.

Now known as Capital International (Jersey) Ltd, on the evening of 5 March, the business hosted its launch event at The Royal Yacht Hotel, with more than 150 guests from across the finance industry, government and the media in attendance.

James Quarmby, renowned private client lawyer and founding partner of private wealth at Stephenson Harwood, was invited as the keynote speaker, delivering a masterclass titled Non-doms – How to cope with the new regime and keep your clients. James shared his insights into the non-dom and private client tax arena, engaging with the local Jersey professional community.

More than 150 people attended the launch

Antony Kelsey, head of investment management and managing director of Capital International (Jersey) Ltd, commented: “Capital International Group is delighted to be entering the Jersey market, sharing its investment proposition with local advisers, fiduciaries and pension trustees, and reaching a broader international client base from its Jersey operations. It was fantastic to see so many people come out to celebrate our launch and we look forward to hosting more events in the future.”

Peter Bourne, chief operating officer of Capital International (Jersey) Ltd, said: “We had a tremendous turnout to see us launch the Capital International Group into Jersey. James Quarmby provided an entertaining presentation on the changing non-dom regime in the UK, which was very well received by those attending.

“The Martello team is very excited about the opportunities presented by joining Capital International Group and looks forward to sharing our expanded investment proposition and capabilities with the local market in particular.”

Capital International (Jersey) Ltd is regulated by the Jersey Financial Services Commission and is authorised as a financial services provider by the South African Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSP No. 51164).
