Jersey is to host a new three-day comedy festival bringing together established UK performers, sketch comedy and opportunities for local people to try their hand at stand-up.

Crapaud ComedyFest! takes place at the Jersey Arts Centre starting tomorrow until Sunday 4 October, with a programme featuring stand-up, sketch comedy, physical comedy and workshops.

The festival opens on Friday with a mixed bill hosted by comedian Jodie Mitchell, featuring Lou Wall and Marty Gleeson, with Josie Long headlining the evening.

Later that night, comedian Adam Flood will perform his show Life and Death of the Party.

Saturday’s programme will include a physical comedy workshop led by local clown and performer Allan Gardner, as well as a weekend stand-up workshop with comedian Nick Elleray.

The Saturday evening will see sketch trio Tarot take to the stage with their offbeat comedy.

On Sunday, participants from Nick Elleray’s stand-up workshop will have the opportunity to perform in a special showcase featuring some of Jersey’s newest comedians.

The festival will conclude with British stand-up comedian Kiri Pritchard-McLean, who will perform her Work in Progress show.

The organisers said the festival was intended to appeal to both established comedy fans and those interested in trying comedy for themselves.

“Whether you’re a lifelong comedy fan, curious to try something different or secretly harbour ambitions of becoming the next big comic yourself,” they said, Crapaud ComedyFest! promises “a weekend packed with laughter, creativity and surprises.”

Tickets for the performances and workshops are available from the Jersey Arts Centre box office or through their website.
