Last of the 4,000 Swimarathon participants dive in for charity

Swimmers, participating as individuals or in one of the 465 teams that entered, completed more than 25,000 laps of the pool over the course of the five-day-long event, which began on Wednesday.

Peter Tabb, publicity officer for the Lions Club of Jersey, who organised the event which is now in its 46th year, said that the record number of teams had created a special atmosphere.

Asked why the annual event was so successful, Mr Tabb said that it was due to the unchanged format.
