We are prepared for any flooding, say emergency services

Heavy rain and 65 mph winds buffeted Jersey over the weekend, bringing down trees and causing some localised flooding.

Over the past couple of weeks a series of storms, including Storm Frank, have forced hundreds of people across the UK to flee their homes after severe flooding hit the north of England, Scotland and Wales.

Thousands more homes have been left without power, and disruption has been caused to several motorways following the wettest December on record for Scotland and Wales.

And with storms continuing to rage across Britain, Mark James, who is also Jersey Fire and Rescue Service chief, has moved to reassure Islanders that the emergency services are primed to respond to major inland flooding if storms continue to hit Jersey.
