Cricket: Beeches retain JEP Knockout Cup

On a glorious evening, Beeches defeated Division II leaders Rathbones OVs by 43 runs courtesy of half centuries from Liam Vallois and Duncan Ellis.

Vallois, who was nominated man-of-the-match by umpires John Treleven and Stuart Cole, carried his bat for 64 runs while Ellis contributed 60.

Vallois struck four boundaries as he played the anchor role to perfection while Ellis, who was exceedingly strong on the leg side, struck two 6s and eight 4s.

James Duckett was the most productive OVs bowler with three wickets in four overs.

Rathbones Old Victorians, requiring 193 runs to win, got off to a brisk start in their reply with 20 runs off the first two overs, but by the ninth over their required run-rate was a difficult 11 an over.
