JERSEY Spartan athletes had another fine day at the annual Hampshire Cross-Country Championships on Saturday winning an individual gold and a trio of team medals.

Pride of place went to women’s under-20 entrant Chloë Turmel who, in her first race in the age group, galloped away to win the individual gold.

Turmel, who won silver in the U17 section a year ago, was totally dominant in her race as she decimated the rest of the field to win by three minutes and 29 seconds.

The 17-year-old student completed the challenging 7.1 kilometre course at Fleming Park in Eastleigh, proving her dedication and sheer hard work in training this winter is really paying off.
