Condor suffers rise in delayed crossings

A total of 82.2 per cent of services arrived within 30 minutes of the scheduled time - compared to 91 per cent in March.

However, the operator saw a slight increase in the number of sailings which operated – from 97.5 per cent to 99 per cent.

The rise in delays was caused by technical problems on the Rapide fast ferry.

Paul Luxon, Condor’s chief executive, said: ‘Some sailings on our route to St Malo were affected by technical issues which is obviously disappointing, but we ensured all passengers reached their destination on the same day.

‘This does show resilience which is very pleasing and we intend restoring our punctuality to the excellent levels achieved in March.’

He added: ‘We are also not complacent and remain absolutely determined to provide an even better ferry service to the communities we serve through our lifeline, tourism and freight offerings.’
