Talks to buy properties on hospital site to begin

Infrastructure Minister Eddie Noel has signed a ministerial decision giving the Island’s director of estates, Ray Foster, the authority to enter into talks with the owners of the Stafford and Revere hotels, 36-40 Kensington Place and 44 Kensington Place.

The States have previously agreed that the new £466 million hospital will be rebuilt on the current site and extend onto those properties.

The minister has previously said that during informal discussions the owners have indicated they would be ‘willing sellers’ and compulsory purchases may not be required.

The panel is required to report back to the States Assembly by Tuesday 18 April, when the funding proposals are due to be debated by the States.
