La Collette refuse blaze prompts fire warning

Nine firefighters were called to the waste facility shortly before 7 am on Sunday to deal with the blaze that started in the refuge tipping bunker.

Two fire engines were sent to the scene and on arrival, fire crews had to contend with large amounts of smoke and flames that were billowing out from within the bunker.
