Simulated ferry ramp fire tests responses

Wednesday’s exercise, which also involved staff from the Ports of Jersey staff, was the culmination of a training programme designed to improve the way responses are co-ordinated.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘We were able to put our Joint Emergency Service Interoperability Programme principles into action, which co-locates, co-ordinates and improves communications with other services.

‘These training scenarios are an important tool for the States of Jersey Fire and Rescue Service to utilise and it’s fundamental that we are able to test and manage our situational awareness, priorities, objectives and risk management planning when taking part in them. ‘As a result, the exercise was deemed a success and all objectives were successfully achieved.’
