Town workshop plans get go-ahead for flats

Jersey Property Holdings recently submitted proposals to restore and renovate the Le Seelleur Oxford Road workshop, which dates from 1845 and is situated next to the Millennium Town Park.

The property was bequeathed to the States by the late Harold Ernest Le Seelleur, a well-known builder, along with nine other units, and under the terms of his will the buildings, or funds generated from their sale or use, were to be used to help the ‘aged, infirm and needy Island residents’.

The proposals recently attracted attention from St Helier Constable Simon Crowcroft and Deputy Sam Mézec, who called for the building to be given to the parish or offered at a non-commercial price so it could be turned into a community centre in the north of town, however Jersey Property Holdings has always said that its first aim is to obtain the best value from the site, and now plans to put it up for sale with planning permission.
