Schools become Duke of Edinburgh centres

Head teachers and staff from Beaulieu, Grainville, Hautlieu and Le Rocquier schools,Victoria College, Highlands College and Jersey College for Girls received their awards operating licences at a special ceremony earlier this month.

It was held at the Youth Service’s St James Centre, where the representatives were welcomed by Education Minister Rod Bryans, chief education officer Justin Donovan and the director for the South-East of England for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, Christian Scott.

Each school has become a directly licensed centre for the awards as a result of recent changes within the Jersey Youth Service. Mr Scott said that it was a pleasure to welcome the schools to the network of licensed organisations, which now number 175 across the south-east region.
