Boy’s death raises issue of dune warning signs

The Environment Department, which is responsible for managing the land in St Ouen’s Bay, have met States police officers and senior Fire and Rescue Service staff since Les Quennevais student Eoin Corcoran (14) was killed.

Eoin, a GCSE student, died after a bank of sand collapsed, trapping him underneath, according to St Brelade Constable Steve Pallett.

Senior officers at the Environment Department have now said they are considering putting extra signage in the area warning the public of the potential dangers of walking and playing on the sand dunes.
